Positive Experiences
“I have gone through four Energy Providers, each with their own gimmick to entice you to switch. I’ll admit I’m a sucker for saving money because I’m retired and on a fixed income – every penny counts. When I signed up for Constellation service, I was hesitant at first, but when they came to optimize my HVAC and replaced failing parts FREE OF CHARGE with no trip fees and hassle-free performance by the most courteous technician, I was impressed! I encourage everyone to give them a try.”
“Went from a $600/mo (or higher) bill with Reliant to about $220/mo with Constellation. AWESOME!”
“The weekly update of electrical use and projected bill for the month gives a budgeting feature for a utility bill. If it is unusually high, it gives an opportunity to see what is running that shouldn’t be or something that needs to be turned off.”
“I have been a Constellation customer for 4 years now and couldn’t be happier with their service. I’ve never had any issues and the website is super easy to navigate. All of the information you need is there and easy to read.”
“I rated them four stars because I think most people don’t believe you when you put five, lol. All in all, Constellation is a pretty good company. I have not had any real large issues and any issue I did have was resolved fairly timely. I usually get prompt response from Customer Service and any issues with my bill are usually resolved both in my favor and to my satisfaction.”
Critical Feedback
“I’m a new customer but I’m already fairly skeptical of them as a carrier. Their identity verification process was a NIGHTMARE. It took multiple tries and eventually back-and-forth emails to be told that the reason my ID kept getting rejected was because my last name appears first on my driver’s license, followed by my first name. You’re verifying TEXAS IDs in TEXAS – how is this an actual customer-facing issue?”
“I renewed with them before my contract expired. I thought I was set for the next year. Somehow they could not find my info and switched me back to UI. Not happy at all!”
“These guys charge my 1 bedroom apartment, which I keep around 74 degrees and almost never turn lights on in, almost $250 a month. As a military member, they will not give me the military rates either. Choose someone else.”

Our Methodology
How We Calculate NPS Scores
Our proprietary scoring system analyzes thousands of customer reviews to provide an unbiased assessment of each electricity provider.
- Data Source: Online Reviews from verified customers
- AI Analysis: We analyze each review to distill sentiment and filter out incentivized reviews, bot-generated content, and review bombing attempts
- True NPS Calculation: We calculate Net Promoter Score as (% Promoters) – (% Detractors), where Promoters rate 9-10 and Detractors rate 1-6
- Star Rating: NPS scores are mapped to a 3.0-5.0 star scale for intuitive comparison
About “Billing Clarity” Scores
This score measures how clearly a provider communicates billing to customers—not billing accuracy. Texas electricity providers have robust, audited billing systems that are highly accurate.
- What we measure: Clarity of bill statements, proactive notifications, explanation of credits and charges, time-of-use rate communication
- Why it matters: Customers often report confusion about bills even when charges are correct—this score reflects how well providers help customers understand their bills
- PUC “billing complaints”: Most are about confusing statements or unexpected (but legitimate) charges, not actual billing errors
Pricing Data Collection
We collect electricity plan pricing directly from official sources to ensure accuracy.
- Data Source: ComparePower, the original Texas electricity consumer advocate
- Update Frequency: Prices are synced daily from all 5 TDSP territories
- Usage Levels: We display pricing at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh/month to show how rates vary by consumption
- Coverage: All 17 retail electricity providers in the Texas deregulated market
PUC Complaint Data
Complaint data provides insight into provider accountability and customer issues.
- Data Source: Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) official complaint records
- History: 46+ months of historical complaint data (January 2022 – Present)
- Categories: Billing, Slamming/Cramming, Quality of Service, Disconnection, and Other
- Update Frequency: Monthly updates as new PUC data becomes available
